Unhealthy portions
Hi there,

I do not eat a very balanced diet and i enjoy my junk. I am somehow very lucky in that I can eat very large amounts of food and not put on weight. I am 23, 164cm and i weigh about 54 kg and i don't look skinny (small bone structure). I don't really want to lose any weight, although, i have recently started to put on a little around my thighs hips and bum. I was wondering if you have any suggestions about appropriate portion size, particularly in terms of starches such as bread/pasta etc and also meats. I want to eat a more balanced diet, but sitll feel fed.. I have managed to cut out junk food.

I am glad to hear that you have cut out junk foods and are embarking on a healthy diet. Your present BMI = 20,1 which is under the ideal of 22 and certainly does not indicate that you need to lose any weight. Healthy portions of cooked starches are 1/2 cup, bread is 1 slice and meat is 60g (about the size of the your palm of your hand), fruits are usually single fruits (unless they are very large, when they then count as 2 portions) and cooked vegetables or salads are also 1/2 cup.
