urine smells like tuna fish
I am a teenage female with a pre-diabetic condition. My urine usually smells like tuna fish--sometimes very strongly. Is this the result of something I'm eating? Is it a sign of disease?

Dear Renee
I would suggest that you have a medical checkup just to eliminate any underlying problem. There are certain foods which impart a strong smell to urine such as asparagus and garlic - this tendency is more pronounced in some people, than in others. However, because you say you are pre-diabetic, it is a good idea to have that checkup and to have your urine and blood glucose levels monitored.
Best regards
