water retention
i have gained a lot of weight evhough i eat small regular healthy quantities.i drink a lot of water especially at night.(1.5 litres) maybe 3 glasses during the day.does water make you fat?what can one use to reduce water retention.i used to gym bt stopped bcoz i changed jobs and work v.late but i try to walk as often as i can and eat healthy(hi fibre,low fat)so i do not understand why i have gained so much weight if it is not because of the water,please help.i have gone from size 30 -36 in less than 6 months.

Water intake will not make you gain fat, but if you suffer from water retention then you will gain mass! Seeing that you have gained your weight rather rapidly I wonder if there is not more going on than the decrease in exercise (although that is also important). Do you enjoy your new job or are you feeling depressed by it? Depression can cause weight gain. If there is any other factor (change in diet, depression, change in medication including hormone replacement therapy, etc) that could be contributing to your weight gain, then do please go to a medical dr or a clinical psychologist to treat the cause. To lose weight you need to reduce your energy intake (click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'Slimming Diet' for a copy of a low-fat, high-fibre diet). Compare this diet with what you are eating at present and make the necessary adjustments. Keep up the good work with walking - try to do some brisk walking for 30 min a day.Hang in there
