Weight loss and alcohol
I have lost over the last 2 years 45kg. I also like Savannah had the same operation. At the moment my weight is standing still. ONE QUESTION!!! I use to before the operation, have a few drinks with friends and family. Now after the op I JUST can't "KUIER" ANYMORE. Feel on my ear very quickly!! Can this be the LIVER or what?? Please advise. Also some times the day after I can't remeber a thing of the night before.
Dear Dinne
It is really amazing how much weight one can lose with these gastric bypass operations. The fact that you are not able to drink alcohol and feel tipsy very quickly is that the alcohol is either absorbed so fast because of the change in your digestive tract, or that your liver is being overtaxed and cannot detoxify the alcohol. Rather play it safe and don't drink alcohol. Have other drinks instead such as soda water with ice, diet cold drinks and bottled water. In view of these symptoms I would urge you to have a medical checkup to test the function of your liver and to check the blood levels of important nutrients such as vitamins and minerals to see if you suffer from deficiencies that need correcting.
Best regards
