I was just wondering, what is spotting?

Is it a sign of pregnancy?

Dear Dee Dee

Spotting is the inappropriate or abnormal situation where small volumes of blood are released from the womb at intervals. This may be multifactorial in nature.
It may be secondary to a tight cervical canal or from an irregularly shedding of the endometrium or womb.
In some cases it might indicate an underlying hormonal imbalance.
In other circumstances spotting may be the only sign of an implantation bleed which may be the first sign of a pregnancy beginning.
