BFL- PHEDRA CUT
I am doing Body for Life and have been taking Phedra-Cut XT for the last week. I have been suffering from this dull ache in the back of my head since starting the tablets. Is this due to the tablets???

I have taken Phedra-Cut before (bout 2 years ago) and didn't have a bad reaction then. But my head feels heavy and there is always a dull throb

Please Help

Hi Janice

It may very well be the cause, yes. I must confess that I don't know whether there may be side effects or not. Nobody does, and anyone who says that they can guarantee no side effects is lying. The thing is that the supplement market is flooded with products, and there is not one decent piece of research on this area - the supplement market is structured in such a way that you don't actually need to have any sort of health clearance to sell a product, and so people have jumped on the bandwagon and produced all sorts of things. So, the answer to your question about safety and side effects is that no-one knows. A number of things are marketed as being herbal, but this does not necessarily make them safe, and so be aware that herbal and natural can be risky.

Then, the other thing is that any substance that increases metabolic rate has to act in the central nervous system and if it can do that, then there's a good chance it does something else as well, and so my opinion is that these types of products must carry substantial risk. Finally, an important point is that if supplements do work, and affect metabolic rate now, how much does the body begin to rely on them, causing a potential 'withdrawal' effect later on? I think that this is a reasonable expectation, actually, and so that alone would make me hesitate to use them.

So, the short answer in my opinion is that the risks far outweigh the benefits, and I would say that a healthy diet and lifestyle must be the way to go.

Good luck
