Cardio vs Weights
Good day – I am 25 and overweight and have been trying for years to lose weight…using all the wrong methods – I think I have now come to the realisation that only exercise and a good eating plan will combat my weight problem. I am currently going to 2x1 hour step classes a week and would like to add 3 more sessions of gym a week. I would like to go on the treadmill for 20 min a session and then do some weights…My questions are:
1 - When doing the weights after the treadmill session, do I do a few excercises for each muscle group or do I focus for example only on my arms?
2 - Also, how many different machines should I use per session and how many sets and reps on each??
3 – After my hour step class I would also like to add in an extra 20min at the gym – should I do cardio or the circuit? I already have 2 x 1 hour cardio, plus 20 min x 3 a week. What proportion should the weights be in relation to the cardio I am doing for weightloss?
I have checked out the WOW programme but it doesn’t really answer my questions…

The answers are in WOW, cause I designed it! It tells you how many reps - what to work when, proportion of cardio to resistance training (70%/30%) etc. Please go and look again, sice I don't want to repeat it all.

After your one hour step class, I imagine you are pretty tired, so perhaps do the toning circuit for 15 mins and then some stretching for about 10 minutes.
