Getting bigger
Hi there. I have been going to gym 4 -5 times per week for three months and do 30 minutes of cardio and a range of weights for a specific muscle area. I have become far more fitter and firmer in the last three months BUT I can't understand why my body has got a bit smaller in some places but around my bottom and upper legs I've become bigger. I'm so dissapointed because I am going to the gym to get fit but I also want to loose weight.

hi there

I suspect that you are probably seeing an increase in size caused by muscle growth. That does happen in some cases, I don't personally think it's anything to worry about, though I understand your concern. The key may be what you are doing in your training sessions with weights. Using heavier weights may well cause muscle building above what you consider acceptable. I would suggest that you should lower the weights you are using, lift lighter and do more reps, rather than slightly heavy with fewer reps.

Also, increase the cardio component to about 45 minutes, that way you will get fitter and will hopefully start combatting this problem.

Good luck
