jelly on belly
my son Aidan is a excellent trampolinist. he is a 2 time south african champion and is going to canda as a junior springbok to partake in the world champs. he is very fit, he gyms alot and he has a six pack, broad back etc. but he has a bit of 'jelly' on his belly. you can only see it when he is wearing a leotard. he eats a special k bar and a banana for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch and a meal replacement for dinner and yet he still has a belly. what should he do?

HI Kelly

The problem is likely quite complex, I would certainly see a dietician - I don't think that he is eating especially well. In fact, I would say his dite is actually very poor, and he would do well to see somone about this. Now, I'm not sure what sort of training he is doing, how often or for how long, that's obviously very important. But I would assume that anyone who is as active and competitive as your son is doing quite a lot of training - this makes diet even more important.

As far as training goes, I think what is important is to look at what he is doing. Often, guys are doing very high intensity work, which is great, but it limits the volume of the training they can do. That's one option. if he is doing high volume, then sometimes the intensity is the problem. in otherwords, the balance between volume and intensity is the key, and I'm not sure of that currently. That's where I would look. Impossible to be more specific without knowing what "gyms a lot" actually means, unfortunately.
