Stomach overhang?
I must confess to not looking after myself that well since having my 2 children, I am 32. But I am starting to make some changes in my eating and I have started to walk regularly. But am I doing too little too late? I find it a little daunting that no matter how hard or long I try for all the info. I have read says I will still have loose skin on my stomach, I think what I have now is an overhang??? It's not nice but it's not the worst one I've seen. Is the only way to rid yourself of this loose skin after you lose your excess weight through plastic surgery?

Hi Kay

It is quite hard to get rid of this excess skin using exercise and diet, and so in my experience, it often is the only way. However, there is no guarantee that you are going to get yourself into this situation, and it may not necessarily happen to you. What I can suggest is that once you have achieved the weight loss, you try to tone the muscle as much as possible, and this is done by doing exercises that make use of the muscle groups in your abdominal area. The exercises that you do will depend on whether you have access to a gym or you do body weight exercises at home. I would suggest you have a look at the 'Zone-in-on' section of the Health 24 website ( You can find this section under 'Fitness', and then just click on the image that shows the areas you want to work on, and you will be able to see the exercises relevant to you.

Good luck
