Hi doc,

during the winter season i did a lot of cardio which resulted a major weight loss which was merely to reduce my flabby tummy. i dropped 2 dress sizes from a 32 to 28. i think that now im too skinny. would u recommend the usage of suppliments to gain back the weight that i lost? i tried to cut down on my cardio and do weight training. it seems as if im just sustaining my weight coz nothing is happening.

Hi Bubu

Don't bother with the supplements, in my opinion. I think that all you need to do is reverse the change that happened to cause you to lose weight in the first place. And that change, was that suddenly, you were doing a lot of cardio training to burn energy, but you were not replacing as much energy. What you need to do now, then, is to start replacing more energy per day, so that you increase your weight. Weight loss is obviously very complex (otherwise, far fewer people would struggle with it), but it boils down to whether your energy intake is less or more than you energy use. Your energy use was far greater than intake, and now you have to address that. So diet is the key, I think that you have to look at trying to increase your total carbohydrate and protein intake. This is not a simple matter, though, and so the best thing is to see a dietician about it. But I certainly wouldn't stop exercising, and lose all that fitness you've worked so hard for! Hopefully diet does the trick!

Good luck
