Walking
Hi, Please could you advise me....... In your opinion, would using a pedometer be a good thing to use in general, to count ones steps daily? In the fitness industry they say you should take 10,000 steps aday. I have an opportunity to be an agent for pedometers selling for 65.00 that also tells you how many calories ones burns and just wonder if its worth it.

Hi Marcy
I think that they are excellent. I have found them to be a particularly good motivational tool. I do have to caution against the calorie component - they are just a guide and so provided they are sold as this, and not promised to make fantastically accurate estimations of exact calorie use, then they are also useful. But they aren't always that accurate.
However, the step counting component has a great deal of potential, and it seems to me that there is a big public drive to get people active and therefore pedometers may become useful. I certainly think that someone starting up and needing some feedback will benefit from them. It's a challenge to get to 10000 steps, it requires probably almost an hour of specific exercise per day, and that can only be a good thing. Will they sell? i don't know, but I would support buying them...
GOod luck
