Where to start?
Good day.
I've been neglecting my health due to depression. I am now ready to take care of my body/mind.
I have about 30kg's to lose, but i'm not sure where to start.
I've had a back and knee operation, so I'm scared of more injuries.
I also have very large breasts, so it's difficult to do running/jumping exercises.
Please help?!?!?!

Hi Bonny

You have made half the step by committing to losing the weight. The keys will be to sustain exercise for a very long time - results will not happen overnight and it may be that we are talking years here before you get down to your goal weight, but that's OK, because it's the process that must keep you motivated, not the outcome. So set regular short term goals for yourself, not just the one goal of losing 30 kg. For example, if you start exercise, set a short term goal of getting fit enough to exercise for a short time non-stop, and then work past that goal to a new one.

My advice regarding exercise is that you check out the fitness page of this site, then click on 'programmes' and then choose one of these. If you are not comfortable with walking, that's fine, you can just choose to cycle. But I do think that you should be able to walk. In fact, i think that walking is the most effective form of exercise to begin with, because it has goals that are easy to sustain and set and it's a good form of exercise too.

Finally, I want to encourage you to look at diet, it's absolutely vital. You can do all the exercise in the world, but if you eat poorly, then there's no chance of success. So the best thing to do is see a dietician, particularly if you have to lose 30 kg - that is a big goal and so I do feel that you have to get dietary advice too.

Good luck
