I was married to an albino and had two children who are both of normal colouring. My ex husbands sister is also albino. My question is will my children be carriers and which genetic testing as available for them to have to find out whether they are carriers. Which gene is the one that is defective?

Thank you

Dear mom

Your children have each inherited a single copy of the albinism gene from your husband. Their carrier status will only present problems if they happen to marry another clinically normal carrier of an albinism gene.
When they reach adulthood, issues relating to possible carrier testing of a prospective spouse could be discussed in your nearest University Medical Genetics Department.
