Abses - on penicillin 26 weeks pregnant URGENT
Hi

I am on penicillin for an abses. My dentist says that the abses is more harmful to the baby due to the poison that flows through to the baby. I tried without success to reach my gynae to ask her opinion. Trusting my dentist I have started taking the medication. My baby is still moving plenty (almost like he knows I need the reassurance). I finish the course tomorrow but my huge concern is that the abses is clearly still there (it is on the side of my gum not under the tooth) it is huge.
What do I do now? I also appear to be getting gastro ... what is the best thing for my baby???????

Penicillin is safe in pregnancy. If the abscess has persisted , you should see the dentist again. It may need to be drained.
