Gynes vs. Midwives
HI there GynaeDoc,
I am now 23 weeks pregnant and at my first Gyne appointment last week ( I have been getting regular scans at Parklane and visits with GP) she suggested that I would be a good candidate for delivering at Linkwood with the Midwives.
My questions are, what is the difference in level of care? And is it possible to use pain meds like epidural or other from Linkwood or from midwives?

The difference in level of care lies betweena midwife and a gynaecologist, rather than the hospital.
If all is normal, midwives can handle labour and delivery very well. If any sudden complications occur, a doctor is necessary. An anesthetist is required to manage an epidural. You would have to discuss with the midwife if this would be an option if you were under her care.
Best wishes
