Herpes
hi Doc
I was diagnosed with Herpes 1 & 2 about 10 years ago. Shortly after the diagnosis I had an outbreak of Herpes Zoster (chicken pox type outbreak) on my back but since then I've had no symtoms of herpes except the tingling feeling. I have never seen a lesion. I am hoping to fall pregnant this year. Should I have a caesar to be on the safe side or can one give natural birth even though you have herpes? Can the baby get herpes while in the womb or only when passing through the canal when being born?

I would suggest that you have a swab to check for herpes at about 36 weeks. If it is negative, you could have a normal birth. Herpes is usually transmitted during birth not in the womb.
