HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS
My niece (23) has just been diagnosed with HPV - abnormal cells after being tested twice, three months ago and then today.

Please supply information on what this is all about and how serious it is.

Thanks
Denise

HPV is a virus which can cause genital warts and, in some cases, can cause precancerous changes in the cervix. The treatment depends on the degree of abnormality of the cells. Often a colposcopy and biopsy is necessary. If severe, the abnormal cells can be excised.
