MELODENE CONTRACEPTIVE PILL
HI
I'M 16 AND IT'S MY THIRD MONTH STARTING ON THE MELODENE PACK OF CONTRACEPTIVE PILLS. LAST MONTH ON MY SECOND PACK I GOT BREAKTHROUGH BLEEDING A WEEK BEFORE MY PERIOD. WHEN IT CAME TO DRINKING THE PINK PILLS (UNACTIVE) MY PERIOD DID NOT ARRIVE. SO WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS- WAS THE BREAK THROUGH BLEEDING CLASSIFIED AS MY PERIOD? BEFORE I STARTED WITH MELODENE I WAS ON MIRELLE FOR 1 MONTH AND MY HORMONES WERE APPARENTLY TO STRONG. THATS WHY I MOVED TO MELODENE. I KNOW THEY SAY IT TAKES ATLEAST 3 MONTHS BEFORE I CAN BE SETTLED TO HAVE A NORMAL MENSTRUAL CYCLE. JUST TO BE SURE DOS THE PILL PREVENT YOU FROM OVULATING? HOW SAFE AM I FROM PREGNANCY IF MY PARTNER ALSO USES A CONDOM? PLEASE REPLY ASAP!! URGENT

The 'breakthrough bleeding' was probably your period. The Pill does prevent ovulation and you are safe after 7 days of active pills even without a condom.

Best wishes
