Pregnancy Questions

Please help me with some answers:

1. My Mum had a fit because I coloured my hair whilst pregnant, saying the dye will go from my hair, into my veins and then into the placenta. I have never heard of anything so daft, but just wanted to get your opinion.

2. Is it bad to drink sodas? I have about two 340ml fizzy drinks a week. It may cause a bit of gas, but this soon passes and I don't feel uncomfortable after drinking them. Do they absorb calcium?

3. And what about eating icecream? Is this bad? I also have about 2 helpings a week. I have heard some icecreams may contain Listeria which is harmful to the baby.

Thank you for your time.

A small amount of hair dye is absorbed into the body but probably not enough to cause harm. It is best to avoid in the first 12 weeks though.
Sodas are fine other than they are more likely to cause heartburn.
Ice-cream is fine.

Best wishes
