Removal of Womb Lining
I am 37 years old, married with 3 kids (3 , 10, 16). I had my tubes tied two weeks after the birth of my last baby. I have had very heavy and painful menstruation periods. A friend suggested that I have my womb lining removed. This is apparently done with a laser. Where can I get more info on this? How long will the operation and recovery take? How effective is it? Is there any side effect? Also, how painful is it?

TCRE, transcutaneous resection of the endometrium can be used to treat heavy periods if there is no uterine enlargement or growths. The operation usually takes half an hour and you should be in hospital for about 2 days. The pain is minimal compared to a hysterectomy. The success rate is about 70%. Some women do have recurrence of their symptoms and may then need a hysterectomy.
