To GynaeDoc Re: 36011
Thanks for your reply on my posting of yesterday (36011). You said there should not be need for concern at the moment (my period being 9 days (10 today) late and negative pregnancy tests).
Now I have another question for you: when should I get concerned? I talked to a friend today that said a cyst could cause a late period and the pelvic pains I am experiencing. I also started feeling nauseous today which I heard can also be a symptom of a cyst. What is the likelihood of me having a cyst? How will I know?
Then I heard another story when a colleague told me that her sister was also very late (about 30days) and she finally went to the doctor because she still got negative results on her pregnancy tests. When he did a sonar he saw the sac and the yolk but there wasn't a baby. What is the chances of this happening and how will you know?

It is possible that there is a cyst but it is far more likely to be a hormonal adjustment from stopping the Pill. The only way to know whether there is a cyst or not is to have a scan. Cysts, even if they are there, are only urgent if they rupture or twist in which case you would have severe pain.
The case you describe is a missed abortion. The pregnancy test usually remains positive for quite a while in this case.If you are worried, see your gynaecologist.
