Twins
Hi, How soon can twins be detected (week-wise from date of conception, not LMP). I have checked the archives but did not find a question like this. Also, how is the baby's age calculated? from LMP or date of conception? I have heard and read many conflicting "facts".

Thanks

Twins should be picked up on scan between 6 and 8 weeks. All dating in pregnany is from the LMP, not the date of conception. The reason for this is that the date of conception is never exact as ovulation may vary. If you have intercourse on Day 14 of your cycle, for example, and only ovulate on Day 17, conception can still occur, but not at the time of intercourse. Likewise, ovulation on Day 14 may result in a conception on Day 16 from intercourse on that day.
