very strange things are happening
Good morning GynaeDoc

I would like to know why I find myself having periods sooner than I should. If I am lucky I have a 10 day break before my next period begins and they are pretty heavy with loads of clots (sorry - this sounds grim I know), but I am really confused. I am 40 and used to be as regular as rain. I had a pap smear in March and seem to be fine in that way. If I go back onto the pill as the gynae suggested I should - as I am involved in a relationship - would it regulate the whole business? I went off the pill a few years ago as I was not feeling so great on it, but this bleeding business is not my favourite and is pretty inconvenient. What do you suggest I do.

Thank you for your help.

Your periods are very abnormal and at your age you should have that checked out to make sure there are no abnormalities in the lining of the womb.
The pill may well regulate your periods again
