Waiting for Delivery
Hi Doc,

We are expecting a Baby and our GP has said the Baby will come on the 9th of April. On the 16th my fiancee went for an Ultra sound and was told that she will deliver within two weeks and to date nothing has happenned.

She has had extreme pain on the 4th of April for two days then she occassionally gets sharp pain for about two hours in two to three days. The baby still manages over 10kicks per day.

Unfortunately, she's in Rustenburg and I cannot take her for another scan as I'm in Johannesburg. Do you think there's anything to worry about? Are there any signs to watch out for?

Thank you for your time - just worried - first baby!

If her due date was the 9th, then on Friday she would be a week overdue. Babies don't always come on their due date and usually there is a week to 10 days leeway. If the scan was normal, with normal fluid and the fetal kicks are normal, then I'm sure that all is fine. If nothing has happened by Friday, then she should probably discuss with her doctor about when induction of labour will be considered.

Best wishes
