Nerve
Dear Doc
I have been to see a neurologist who tested all reflexes etc and found nothing sinister.
He has told me I have a pinched nerve at the base of skull (cannot remember the name). He has given me anti inflammatories for this.
Could you tell me how long does this last? (the pain).
It runs from the left bottom of skull to behind ear and left eye.
It comes and goes throughout the day.

Dear Viv,
I am not convinced that this is the only thing that can be causing the problem. I think you should ask the neurologist how the pinched nerve was diagnosed, which nerve it is, what is pinching the nerve, and whether it is 100% certain to be the cause. Also ask the neurologist how the pinched nerve in the neck causes the pain behind the eye.
I believe that further investigations must be done to be certain of the diagnosis, or you may have the pain indefinitely by accepting this diagnosis. Neither do you want to be on anti-inflammatories for the resr of your life.
