Knee Replacement now infected.
My husband had a knee replacement in April 2005. Since then he is in constant pain. They say he has infection but he has now had 15 operations since then to clean out the infection and everytime they say they cannot culture anything from biopsies. He has been on various antibiotics including Targocid, Invanz and now Zynoxid. He has just had a CRP count and the result was 123. Doctors are now talking about fusing the knee or even amputation. Would this help if it is infection? And also do you know of any good doctors in Gauteng (or anywhere else) that we could perhaps go and see. We are desperate.

Dear Carol
I know too little about this to really give sound advice. I do know a very good knee surgeon in Pretoria- His name is Dr Daan du Plessis. Unfortunately I don't have a phone number for him. Good luck.
