Osteopenia: need for Fosamax?
I am 27, female. My bone density is 80% of normal and i have a T-score of -2. I do exercise 2-3 times a week and I take a Calcium supplement. I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta in my family. Is it necessary to take something like Fosamax to build up the bonemass?
Dear MK
Please contact me at the Osteoporosis Foundation 021 931 7894. I need to get some more info from you e.g have you ever fractured?.
Also a T-score in a 27 year old is not used to diagnose osteoporosis, but the Z-score is important. Could you supply me with this? The reason we use the Z score is that it is age matched and as you are still building up peak bone mass, the T score is not relevant.
