Hello all,

In 2005 my brother was asked to act as a principal, unfourtunately some of her colleagues worked against him and with other members of the School Governing Body. He did not have access to the cheques nor was he a signatory. Some money was found to be missing and the dept of edu knew who stole the money because he reported to the authorities. He was appointed permanently as a principal in Oct 2006 at another school, last week he was called for this case, says there were two other people, labour person and a DET rep, this was the first time he went to this case, he was found guilty of not being able to manage 85 000, he says they say his suggested sanction is a final written warning, full year suspension without pay. They will still fax this to him, something is not right here. Pls advice. He did not have a rep from Sadtu because they told him it is not necessary they were not looking for him but hoping to nail the culprits and he was therefore misled.

I don't believe that suspension without pay is acceptable. It would be useful to investigate the educational bargaining council, they can be contacted and you could as an inspector as to whether this is acceptable.
