19 month old refuses to go sleep

My baby boy who always used to sleep well (not through the night though) has all of a sudden refused to sleep. This is week 3 and I am dead tired and I cant go on like this.

He is tired, I make him a warm bottle of formula and take him to his room, he wont lie down unless I am lying next to him. He then drinks his whole bottle and tosses and turns for about an hour, as soon as i think he is nodding off, he wakes up with a start and cries and we go through the whole process again. I put him down at 8 and he only eventually falls asleep after 10. He then wakes me up about 4 times a night and wont sleep unless I am next to him. He then wakes up at 5h30 and wont go sleep again.

Afternoon naps are the same battle.

Is he going through a stage, nightmares, insecure????

I have tried Rescue Remedy (at the recommendation of my Clinic Sister) to NO AVAIL.

HELP ME... I am loosing the plot over here.

PS : I have 3 kids and the other 2 are fine.

He is going througha bad phase and is feeling very insecure for some reason-?creche. He wants you to sleep with him which you can't afford to do-so put him down , be very calm and loving and when he is asleep leave the room. A nightlight often helps a lot. Your husband must help you, this is not only your problem.
