Baby teething
Hi there,

This weekend my 4 and 1/2 month old baby's first tooth appeared! Very exciting BUT, for a week now, before the tooth appeared, he started having a phleming cough and running nose, he also sneezes alot. Can this be the result of teething or is he actually sick? I am afraid that the coughing can get worse and turn into bronchitis or something. I am giving him a cough syrup for 4 days now, and it doesn’t seem to get better? Maybe if the tooth is out completely this will get better?

Thanks

This time of year the most common cause for the phlemmy chest would be a viral infection. There is no medication that will make a definite differene and the best is to treat it only if complications should arise.
