Battling to get child to sleep
My daughter (19 mths) old just doesn't want to go to sleep at night. She never used to have a problem and I am following the same routine as per usual ie. supper, bath, bottle, bed. Medically she is fine as I have her reflux under control with relevant medication. I have for the past couple of weeks been battling until 21:15 (on a good night) to get her to sleep. I am losing patience with her and have been giving her vallergan forte for the last 2 nights to get her to sleep. She only has 1 sleep during the day for about an hour and a half. Please advise.

Do not use Vallergan as it makes infants very miserable and difficult the next day. Many intelligent toddlers seem to need very little sleep or find it difficult to fall asleep at night. Keep things very calm and happy at bedtime and read a gentle book to her until her eyes close.A nightlight is a good idea in her bedroom.
