Blocked nose
My LO has just turned 1 year. He has been sick with flu and tonsilitis over the last few months. He is currently battling with a blocked nose that just won't clear. The doc doesn't want to give him any more antibiotics because he has had so much already, and I have just been given Linctifed cough mixture (he has a cough as well). i'm just becoming concerned because when he wakes up after a sleep, his eyes are glued shut from all the mucus. He wakes during the night and I have to spray his nose (with Sterimar) to try clear it a bit, so he can breathe. In the morning, his cot sheet has mucus and a little bit of blood on it - I think its from him rubbing his nose when the mucus is dry. The chemist suggested that we just keep spraying his nose with Sterimar and that my hubby smokes outside and not in the house, because it may be my LO's sinus. We are also busy with renovations, so there is extra dust in the house - could it be allergies? Would tissue salts help?

I don't know where to turn - at what point should I take him to an ENT? Or is it just the change of season? I don't know what to do, and I hate seeing him like this and feel so helpless. Please help.

Your baby sons nose is very blocked and is not really responding to treatment. You can only use saline to clear his nose and if this doesnt help you have a problem. He has not responded to the Sterimar. The best move now would be to have him seen by an ENT as he may have enlarged adenoids which are causing such a severe blockage.
