It seems that your daughter has had a recent viral infection of her uuper airways and chest. She now has a dry cough which may well be due to a condition called 'tracheitis'. This is still the result of her recent infection and is due to the fact that inflammation in the upper part of her windpipe or trachea is still healing. Sometimes this cough can last for up to 6 weeks. It may help your daughter to give her a soothing cough mixtute at night. Speak to your pharmacist.
