You do not mention whether your baby is at a creche and whether she has had more than one chest infection.I am concerned that your baby girl has been coughing for as long as 4 months. She also does not respond to treatment for her cough. It is possible that she has a reflux problem with aspiration of tiny amounts of her food or some other reason for her persistent cough. It would be best to take her to be seen by a paediatric pulmonologist so that a proper diagnosis can be made of the cause of her coughing. There are experts in all the main centres in SA.
