Ear Infection
My LO is now 7months old. Two weeks ago she started with flu and coughing. I took her to the paed last week, and he prescribed antibiotics, and I also took her for fisio for the whole of last week until Sunday. Still steaming her with atrovent and pulmicor. When we went to the paed last week, he tested the ears. Her ears were full of wax and there was a pressure on the ears. He recommended that we first treat the chest, and to bring her back to test her ears this week. I took her back yesterday. We finished the antibiotics. Yesterday the ears were still looking the same (I think the pressure was something like 77.4) He was very concerned, and informed me to put "Soetolie" in her ears to try and get rid of the wax, and to go back on Monday, to see whether he must refer me to ENT.

I am a bit worried that they would want to put grommets in. Will the pressure in the ear get better if we can get rid of the wax in the ear? Will another course of antibiotics help? SHe sleeps o.k, and drinks and eat well.

The wax nothing to do with the pressure in her ears and the soetolie will not help. The fluid in her middle ears needs to drain out and it is important to see an ENT specialist about your baby's problem.
