GASTRO
Hi Doc.
My daughter aged 18 months had gastro a few months ago. She was yesterday exposed to someone with gastro yesterday and today i notice she has a fever. I want to know if all the medications she took a few months ago when she had gastro the 1st time will help her body fight off the gastro bug this time around? Or does the medications for gastro that she took a few months back only last a short time in her body and will not protect her from picking the bug up again so soon?
Thank You
Pam

She should not be taking any medicines as such for gastro. If she develops any diarrhoea or vomiting she will need to replace electrolytes using Rehidrat sachets. At her age she is very vulnerable to infection with the viruses which cause gastro.
