Milk: 2 and a half year toddler
Dear Doc

My clinic sister told me to take my 2 and a half year old daughter off her bottles. She was drinking about 400 - 450 ml of milk a day.

I now try to give her " milky tea" , Milo, Nesquick, Woolies probiotic drinks etc out of a cup, but she tends to resist this. She prefers water. My concern is that she may now not be getting sufficient milk in her diet?

Is it enough to rely on the milk in her cereal like pronutro, and having a small yoghurt each day, to get her calcium / protein intake? She is 13kg - normal for her age.

Many thanks

At this age your little daughter does not really need to drink milk although she can have two cupfulls per day if she will drink it. She seems to be getting enough calcium from her dairy intake every day.
