Questions
Doc thank for your help always.
1. Baby boy (2 wks old) cannot stop crying, mostly late at night into the early morning, he is gaining weight well (was a 4.02kg baby) and is not sick, could it just be colic?
2. If it is colic what can they use? i see most products like Gripe Water contain alcohol is this safe? what about Reuteri Drops? i beleive they are excellent, any opinion on that product would be great before we go and buy it?
3. My daughter (2 and a half yrs) has a confirmed nut allergy count of 15!!! also cow's milk and egg white. She was eating lots of dairy i.e. cheese/yoghurt/fat free milk, ice cream with no reaction - do we have to stop all of this even if she has NO obvious reaction to this allergy - confirmed with a blood test.
4. Is it common for a child of her age to outgrow the nut allergy or even have it come down a bit so that it would not be too severe unless she ate loads of it? or is this for life?
5. Lastly - can you recommend an antihistamine for her that is FAST ACTING - all the one's (Allecet/Allergex/Deselex) seem to be slow acting i.e. 30 minutes after taking it only kicks in. I would like to get something that will act immediately should she have an attack and we are not around to rush her to the dr immediately, something i could leave with her nanny? Surely 30 minutes is too long to wait should she have an anaphylatic attack? there has to be something faster on the market? I dont agree with giving antihistamine every day!
Thanks

1. This could well be colic
2. I like the Reuteri drops
3.Nut allergy is serious and she is unlikely to outgrow this.
4.You do not need to stop the dairy products as she does not demonstrate any allergies to these.
5. Phenergan syrup works in minutes and is the best antihistamine for emergency use.
