Sleeping Problems with 15 month old
HI There

MY little girl is almost 16 months old, since last week Tuesday she has either been refusing to go sleep in her cot, or when she does, she wakes up at about 10:30pm - 11pm and screams incessantly for about 45 minutes before putting herself back to sleep, my husband and I have tried a number of things from putting her to sleep on our bed then moving her, to moving her cot back into our room, to sleeping on the floor beside her to reassure her that we are there. She is not ill, and only sleeps about 1 - 2 hours during the day with a lot of physical activity, playing outside and running around. We bought her a night light as well in case it was a fear of the dark, but that hasn't helped either. The only thing that has changed in the last week is that it has started raining.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

She seems to be having 'night terrors' which is very common at her age. It is a passing phase. All she needs is reassurance and then you should leave the room. You may have to go to her several times a night for a short period, but each time only reassure her and leave the room. Do not let her sleep in your bed or sleep next to her as this will produce problems of its own.
