tonsils and adenoids
My 7 years old girl is having enlarged tonsils and adenoids which are scheduled to be removed. However, for the past 3 days she hasn't been eating she is vomiting and also having diarrhea and she complains a lot about stomach aches. At the moment she is hospitalised and on the drip. Is the vomiting and diarrhea associated with tonsils and is it safe to remove them in this state.
Your daughter's vomiting and diarrhoea is due to a gastro-enteritis infection and is not due to her tonsils. She is hospitalised because she must have lost so much fluid and body salts that she became dehydrated due to her vomiting and diarrhoea. She cannot have her tonsils and adenoids out while she has gastro-enteritis, so the operation has to be postponed until she is completely better.
