wet cough
Morning doc

Baby has a wet cough, runny nose and yellowish mucus forming at her eyes. About a week ago, her eyes were red and ' oozzing'  mucus. I treated her with eye ointment, which has helped slightly. Not red anymore and not as much mucus. Was told it is a cold in the eye, something to that effect. He cough is what bugs me the most. It' s that roll-in-your-chest wet cough. been giving her Benylin, but it doesn' t seem to be working. She doesn' t have a fever. What could it be and what can I give her?

It sounds as if your baby [age not given] has a bad chest infection. The chain of events you list here suggest an infection with a virus called adenovirus which causes a nasty chest infection.Keep her nose clear by using infant saline nose drops twice a day. If the cough persists for more than another two days she should be seen by a doctor.
