Constant lung infections and probiotics

I have cystic fibrosis –  thus constant lung infection wherefore I receive constant Intravenous antibiotics. I had enough of infections and heard that probiotics may increase my immune system –  which you can imagine is non-existent –  if there is a cold or flu virus in a 20 mile radius from me I get it and then 3 days later I am in hospital with intravenous anti-biotics.

Which probiotics should I get –  currently I take the following but not sure if these are just to help with digestion or if they boost immue as well –

Lactobacillus helveticus R52
Lactobacillus casei R215
Lactobacillus lactis R1058
Bifidobacterium bifidum R71
In total 3 Billion units

Please suggest the one which I should take for immune booster… I am desperate.

Kind regards

Hi Bokkie
I suggest Lactobacillus reuteri, available as REUTERI in pharmacies for 2 reasons:
1. It has been thoroughly studied and shown to have immune boosting activity, in fact the Swedish supplier have patents in this regard. REUTERI has proven to recruit CD4+ helper cells, part of first line immune defence.
2. REUTERI is available in 100’s in the form of a chew tablet at a dose of 1 daily. This makes it easy to remember and cost effective.
Good Luck, I would appreciate feedback
