Dear Mathabatha
If you suffer from high blood pressure (hypertension) then it is advisable that you use the DASH Diet (click on 'Diet & Nutrition' at the top of this page and then on 'Food as medicine' and 'Hypertension'), which was developed in the USA to lower bp and cause weightloss (if necessary). The DASH diet is high in calcium and low in sodium which should lower your bp, and the low fat content assists weightloss (if necessary). If you find that you need assistance in the application of the DASH Diet, please consult a consult a registered dietitian (visit the Association for Dietetics in SA Website at: www.adsa.org.za and click on "Find a Dietitian" to find a dietitian in your area) to guide you through the initial stages.
