Age Related Macular Degeneration
Hi Doc.

Im 28 years old and have been diagnosed with Age Related Macular Degeneration - (Dry Degeneration).

They have perscribed Preservision (Lutein), i am a smoker and im currently going to quit but i am aware that if a previous or current smoke one should watch out for certain vitamins as they aid in lung cancer.

The Supplement Facts:
Vitamin C Ascorbic Acid - 226mg
Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopheryl accetate) 200IU
Zinc (Zinc Oxide) 34.8mg
Copper (Cupric Oxide) 0.8mg
Lutein (5mg)

Could you please advise if this is safe to take even though i am a smoker?

Thank you

Yes, it is safe to take these supplements, especially if you are a smoker. Vitamin C is very important supplement to take when you are smoking, as it aids in tissue healing. When a person smokes, it causes depletion of vitamins, especially vitamin C and vitamin B complex. In addition you can ask your GP for Vitamin B injections.

I am not aware of any vitamins that can aid to lung cancer.
