Yes it is possible to develop any allergy at any age. What happens is that the level of antibodies builds up over time until it reaches a critical level, at which point you develop symptoms. If you are now allergic to peanuts you must be very careful because the reactions can be severe and even life threatening. It may be a good idea to have an allergy test to confirm your peanut allergy - ask your dr to arrange the tests.
