Dear Doctor
Do you think it is worth spending money on the Aluma procedure for jaw line skin tightening, or are there better non-surgical procedures?
Thanks so much for your expert advice.

Hi Tracy, thank you for the question.

The Aluma device is manufactured by a company called Lumenis which has a good reputation with their laser and IPL machines. The technology used in the Aluma is similar to Syneron’s Refirm technology and their Velashape so one should get good skin tightening effects. The degree of improvement will be dependent on the age of the skin and the condition of the skin and will have minimal effect for very noticeable or heavy jowling. As the name suggests it is a skin tightening procedure and not a ‘fat lifting’ procedure.

If jowling with skin laxity is your main concern one may need to consider laser lipolysis (LipoLite, Slimlipo, Smartlipo, etc.) or even surgery.
