Am I over-weight ?
My daughter is 12 years old. How will I know if she is over-weight? Is there a way I can calculate it myself from time tot time.
Dear Elbie
According to the USA National Academy of Sciences, girls between the ages of 11 and 14 should weigh about 46 kg and be about 1.57 m tall. There are however, many factors that play a role in the weight of children and if in doubt, take her to a clinical dietitian (phone (012) 998-5650 (mornings) for the name of your nearest dietitian) so that she can be assessed.
Best regards
