Hallo Jackie
If your nose is blocked or you have infection in the lungs, it is better to postpone, as you need open airways and lungs for successful anaesthesia. There is also a higher risk of complications when you have an upper airway infection. Discuss with your anaesthetist when you go for your pre-operation examination. The risk also depends on how long you will be sedated and the kind of operation you need to have.
