Dear Piet
Canola margarine is a good choice because it contains plenty of mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids which are protective against heart disease. All margarines that list a high mono- or polyunsaturated fat content are good choices and the lite varieties contain less energy. Nowadays margarine manufacturers are careful to limit so-called trans-fats (which are harmful) to the absolute minimum or zero. Butter contains more saturated fat and cholesterol than margarines (margarine contains no cholesterol), so rather use the Canola margarine.
